Came across a good looking P-51 Mustang on Ali Express. For just under $26, decided to give it a try and see how it compares to Cobi. I have built 3 variants of the Cobi P-51, so I was curious to see how another brand (Wange) would handle it. Pros: good looking model, good build, no issues with bricks or missing pieces. Cons: stickers rather than printed pieces. I put some stickers on, but not all of them yet. I hate the ones that span multiple pieces, and some of the stickers I won't be putting on ("Mustang Fighter"). Some pieces came on sprues and had to be cleaned up. Not a problem for me, but something I don;t have to do with Lego, Cobi, Mega. Rudder and elevator pieces did not have a good fit. One elevator was very tight, the other very loose. Neutral: It is big! Manual lists the scale as 1:26. Took a couple pics with Cobi Top Gun P51 for comparison. Custom molded pieces. I don't mind the custom pieces, Cobi has them too. Guess it is just a matter of personal preference. Lots of pictures to follow, let me know if you have any questions!

Nice looking set. I'm not huge into aircraft myself but Wange looks like they are stepping up their quality. If they release a P-38 Lightning I might get one, the A-10 Warthog of WWII. Love that plane.

It's a shame Mega's recent P-51s are so tough to find...they make great fodder for a custom P-38!

And just like I planed it, trust me I didn't, JIESTAR in China released a P-38 Lightning set. Go Figure.
