LOL! Actually, I only became "aware of" this set and several others like it in the past few months.
I posted on a FB Mega group to express my dismay that still more Mega sets had come and gone without so much as a whisper of notice from the company, and I was assailed by Fanboys who objected that Mega does a great job of pushing its product and always has.
I don't like to play the age card too often, but I pointed out one of the lads that I've been collecting Mega since before he was born, so I kind of have a basic idea of what I'm talking about!

Well their website is pure shit for starters. Their layout sucks for starters and more so nobody their seems to know what "update" means. And as a person who is also trying to archive data WTF! can't they put their instructions up as they should be? Is it some kind of trade secret? To boot, if it is too old they pawn off the responsibility as it is out of warranty, when they have that file somewhere handy if THEY need it.
Whats the point of having a hammer if you use it as a screwdriver?
That will be me using my rant card from the constant times I have hit my head on a brick wall while just trying to get information. Even from the source itself!

I agree with every word of that rant!
But I blame myself for firing up that part of the discussion here, so I'm going to move my post and yours to their own thread.

I personally have never understood the reasoning that some companies have when it comes to the document retention of the history of their products. MEGA isn't the only company that seems to delete their manuals or associated webpages once they discontinue an item. Heck I just posted two reviews for products from WOMA and found that they had discontinued the products I reviewed and had removed them from their product lists. Sluban does the same. I personally just don't get it.

As you're no doubt bored of hearing me reiterate, Mega has been lousy about their online documentation since the 90s, and in some ways they're getting worse.
One minor but annoying thing is that you can't hover of the image of a set in the (limited) online showcase to see the set number; you have to click on it and find the set # on its own page. Why?
And Mega has always had a weird goal of downplaying the cross=brand compatibility of its bloks. I've never seen anything official that shows any interaction between themes, whereas Lego in various ways celebrates this. Worse, Mega has tried a number of standalone lines that are totally (or at least mostly) incompatible with any others. Neo-Shifters, Plasma, Nano, iCoaster, Sphereon, and the list goes on. Can you imagine the awesome detailing you could achieve by incorporating Nano into your Halo MOC or the like? And when some of us on the forum mentioned it to a Mega team member, he reported that it simply hadn't occurred to anyone to make them inter-compatible. What?!?
The company really seems focused on only current sets that may or not be available anywhere that anyone can find them. And of course the coolest sets either never see the light of a brick-n-mortar store or appear only once and then vanish forever into the online void.

Not to be even more negative on MEGA, but it seems like they just don't care about their block sets but only the sale of "X" amount of sets to make money from the license then once they have reached that internal goal they move on to the next set/license. Looks/Feels like Mattel doesn't really view MEGA as a highly profitable division in the larger over all marketing scheme they are playing out. If this is how MEGA is viewed internally at Mattel we could be without MEGA sooner or later.
