Here is a quick review of Sluban's Leopard II tank set MFG: Sluban Name: Leopard 2A5 PN#: M38-B0839 PCS: 766 Figs: 2 (1 male/1 female) The set is very well designed with plenty of details. The manual contains instructions for the alternate A6 turret design. The brick quality is very high with no mold lines, very few sprue contact points, but I did have one part that did mold only half way (a replacement was included). The stickers on the other hand are garbage, if you mess up placing one then getting it back off without leaving the painted part of the sticker on the part is impossible. There is also a sticker that is to be applied to a round part and Sluban failed to punch the sticker round for peeling off the backer, so square sticker overlapping a round part. Good luck trimming it. The two included figures are standard Sluban design with the head and long neck holding the whole figure together. The one is male and the other female and surprisingly they are close to the proper scale for the tank. Building the set is a bit tricky in spots as Sluban used a few "illegal" brick attachments for the side skirts and the front angled armor. The treads are tight and do not roll easily on any surface. The turret took some finagling to get it to rotate 360 degrees with something snagging underneath, but once I found it it works well now. Over all it's a great little build, exception the stickers, I would recommend it for any tank lovers collection. Get it now since it's been discontinued. As a bonus Sluban gives you the cutest little alligator brick remover.

Nice build, but it looks like I didn’t miss anything by skipping this one. Decided I already had enough Leopard 2s.

Looking at my pics of this build again I just realize I commented in the review on how the bricks have few sprue contact points but my pics make every single one stand out like a sore thumb.

That’s an issue I learned about with Cobi sets long ago. Nowadays I very carefully place all my bricks so that the sprue marks face inward or down and are less visible where I can. It’s not just Cobi…most brands have this issue. Hell, I’ve seen it on LEGO more and more as of late.

LEGO use to connect their bricks to the sprue on the underside or corner for most of their years but since they are paying China to make a lot of their bricks now a days they made cheaper molds that connect the sprue to the side or a stud top which is more visible. I often wondered how it became so easy for the Chinese LEGO knock offs to make the molds so "perfect" if you have ever seen a mold it's 2 or more huge blocks of metal and without the original source CNC programming or an original mold for the CNC machine to copy then it's 99.999999% impossible to match the original parts with the same precision as the original. So I believe LEGO is supplying China the molds under contract to make them parts or the CNC programming to make molds in China, or LEGO has the worst cyber security ever and all their CNC programs were stolen and continue to be. China is just being China and making use of what they were supplied.
The cost of molding parts is low but making precision molds is not which is why I can't grasp MEGA making one use molds for parts they never make again after the run for the set the are in is over.
