I don't ordinarily like "motion gimmick" sets, but this looks pretty darn cool.
I wonder if it'll be available in the real world anywhere or only online.

Target has been pretty good about stocking the larger Pokemon sets, so hopefully it sees some brick and mortar distribution. I have to say, I like this packaging art a lot better here than the Halo sets revealed. Maybe Halo was early prototyping? The dark background really make Pikacho "pop", looks kinda like the Detective Pikachu packaging.
This does bring up the same old question though of, Where the hell does Mega announce this stuff centrally? This looks to have come from Nintendo Merch Central originally, maybe they have exclusivity for a bit, but some centralized announcement platform from Mega, like say a website maybe, just spit balling there and throwing out ideas.

It was on deepdiscount without a picture for pre-order as "kinetic pikachu" a little while back then it disappeared.

I wonder if it has the same basic mechanism as the mechanized dragon? And what else they might come out with?

The only drawback here is with that many pieces I am guessing it will probably be around $100

Ive seen some cool mechanized LEGO MOCs on YouTube that use relatively simple gearing like Pikachu appears to. Wish I could find the vid.

Saw this at a local Target today, and it looks really cool.
Unfortunately, it also looks like it'll sit on the shelf @ $90.00 until selling for 70% off a few months from now.
I love this "motion" concept, which is much better and more interesting than the old "stunt stick" nonsense that helped to ruin the King Arthur and the rebooted Xtreme Sports lines. But Mega should work to create a few of these motion sets in the $20 & $30 price range. $90.00 is asking a lot from people, especially if they're dubiously courting the Pokemon CCG crowd--and honestly who else might they be going for?
Still, a very nice idea, and it brings an air of "maturity" to the brand that might have been seen as lacking. I know that tanks and a few other sets have incorporated simple gear mechanisms, but it's nice to see more complex stuff trickling into the market.
