In my generally fruitless quest to find closeout MEGA sets at Ollie's, I stopped in the local store. I found an 800-piece Blokko set on the shelf for either $9.99 or $14.99 (I forgot to jot down the price). Nominally that might seem like a fair deal, but check out highlights of the piece breakdown: 30 - 1x1 brick with stud on side (blue) 70 - 1x1 brick (red) 100 - 1x2 plate (yellow) 110 - 1x1 plate round (yellow) 120 - 1x1 plate (red) 150 - 1x1 tile (blue) That makes up 72.5% of the total count! What a ripoff! Caveat emptor and all that, but some poor kid's going to see this set, talk their parents into buying it, and then face major disappointment when they open it and it has more empty air than a potato chip bag! I can't say that it's dishonest, because they do indeed list the inventory clearly on the outside of the box, but come on! These pieces would barely take up a small polybag!

I was in a Dollar General before Christmas that had something similar. I couldn't help thinking some little kid was going to be disappointed if they got that under the tree!

This is the kind of thing that would lead me to have the "the world is full of lying and deceiptful people" talk with my daughter.

This type of 3rd party shenanigans is the reason that so many people will spend the overtly high LEGO basic set prices and the sale of reputable 3rd party sets like this fail to make a mark on the brick market. 150 1x1 blue tiles, WTH is that?

Young Brad Blokko's first day on the job will always be remembered at Blokko Enterprises. Blokko's head honcho sure was proud to have Brad join the team, and everyone was encouraged to help the boss's nephew fit in and contribute. Well, before long, someone had the inspiration to let Brad design the latest 800-piece deluxe set. "What do you think we should put in the set?" they asked Brad. And you bet Brad was really enthusiastic about those itty-bitty pieces. What an unorthodox idea-man Brad turned out to be. A rebel! Don't just throw in a measly two or three yellow 1x1 plates in, make it a hundred, proclaimed Brad! All his teammates gasped. Nobody had imagined such a thing before. But Brad wasn't done. Brad Blokko could not get enough of the 1x1 plates. 120 of this color, 150 of that color! 110 of the round ones that are easy to swallow! Wait, what? Turns out Brad Blokko thought he was in a pill factory. But everyone loved the boss's nephew at Blokko Enterprises!

Very nice dramatization of the possible reason for this disgrace of a assortment of blocks from Blokko. I can't wait for the live on broadway version, it will be magnificent.

Definitely not a "prescription" for success!
