I wondered what/if people use to remove the print/paint on their pieces.

Thanks to some advice I read long ago on LUGNET, I was able to remove printing from a LEGO windscreen using Brasso, a rag, and a lot of patience.

How was the finish?
I have been able to do it with a pencil eraser but also takes patience. Tried an electric eraser... didn't quite have the effect I was looking for

The Brasso was nice because it has a really mild abrasive, so as you polish vigorously with a cloth, it keeps the surface intact.
Still takes a while though.

On another discussion place someone semi freaked saying you should never put an abrasive on building blocks but even an eraser seems to change the finish, at least on brand new blocks it does. At least theres not much that I have to take off overall.

I used Brasso to remove the stylized shark image from a translucent orange LEGO windscreen, and it came out just about perfect. I had the advantage of working on very simple, smooth surfaces, but the abrasive nature of the Brasso itself preserved the clarity of the piece very nicely.
