How to expand your Cobi tank collection with minimal modifications to existing models Sometimes Cobi re-releases the same tank type with minimal or no modifications, so you end up getting the same tank type again. But luckily with just minimal modifications you can turn that tank model into a different type, thus justifying the purchase of the "new" set Example 1: Set 2465 "Sturmgeschütz III Ausf. G"Coby recently re-released this set, but the only differences are the accessories, because now you get a log instead of a shovel and a track link. So how to justify the purchase of this "new" set? Well ... simply turn it into an "Ausf. E" with the short 7.5 cm StuK 37 "Stummel" gun (And of course the obligatory "off center gun" modifocation al Cobi StuGs should get)

Example 2: Set 2475 "M-10 Wolverine"
Cobi recently re-released this set, but the only difference is that you now get less accessories mounted at the side of the vehicle. So how to justify the purchase of this "new" set? Well ... simply turn it into an "M-10 Achilles" by adding a nozzle to the gun barrel (turning the standard 76.2mm M7 gun into the Ordnance QF 17 pounder) and puting on some British decals (and the more than fitting "Achilles" sticker from Cobi's British "World of Tanks" sticker sheet). I also added some frontal mudguards for a little more diversification.

Example 3: Set 2379 "SU-85"This set is identical to the "Battle of Berlin" issues no. 22-25 (5571-5574) and almost the same as the WoT set 3003 (which has just 2 additional fuel barrels). So why not turn one of your SU-85 into a SU-100. But this is not simply done by just adding an additional barrel piece, you also have to move the commander's cupola slightly to the outside to make room for the bigger gun inside.

Example 4: Set 2467 "SU-85"Cobi recently re-released this set with an incredible re-design of the SU-85. In contrary to all the other sets I mentioned before, you won't have this exact model multiple times if you just got each Cobi release once, but as this is the the best SU-85 version yet, I still turned one copy into a SU-100. Same issue as set 2379: You also have to move the commander's cupola slightly to the outside in addition to adding a longer gun.

Great mods Caracho!
Nice to see so much variants made out of existing cobi models
I like that new cobi SU100 mod with the more outerly placed cupola, great work!
One little sidenote; i would put that Stug's mg42 ammobelt on the left side.... I know, cobi always put those on the wrong side too but ammobelts are always fed on the left side.... I know, i'm being an arse for details..... :-)

I like how you handled the hull on the SU-100 mod. Need to see if I can scare up the parts to do that myself. After you educated me on the hull difference I kind of got rid of my extended barrel SU-85 from display. One little sidenote; i would put that Stug's mg42 ammobelt on the left side.... I know, cobi always put those on the wrong side too but ammobelts are always fed on the left side.... I know, i'm being an arse for details..... :-) You're right about the MG42, but there are quite a few machine guns that feed from the right. I have to look them up individually myself, but as far as these models go, I just make sure that I've got the bullets facing forward if nothing else

You're right about the MG42, but there are quite a few machine guns that feed from the right. I have to look them up individually myself, but as far as these models go, I just make sure that I've got the bullets facing forward if nothing else Maybe I should pay more attention to the Cobi weapon accessories. Somebody already told me on flickr that I used the wrong machine gun on one of my MOCs I accidently used a German MG on my Russian ISU-152 MOC, because I haven't really paid attention what exact weapon the Cobi weapons are supposed to represent, I just thought I mounted a generic MG, but apparently I didn't. Maybe someone should make a list of all the Cobi weapons and the real counterparts they are supposed to represent ...
