Help!! My 11 year old son visited the Collings Foundation American Heritage Museum in Hudson, MA yesterday. We purchased the Cobi B-17 (920 pieces) in the gift shop. He enjoyed putting it together at first and then the problems began. The plane is too heavy in spots with the tension causing it to fall apart - for example on the wings. They just collapse in half randomly. He has finished putting it together, but pieces keep falling off and when he tries to pick up the plane to repair it more pieces keep falling. It is extremely frustrating at this point. Has this happened to anyone else? Is this a defective set? Does anyone have suggestions on how to make this particular set stay together? As this audience knows, this was not an inexpensive set. We do not own any other Cobi sets so I am unsure if this is typical Cobi quality? Thank you for any advice!

This is unusual for me. I have that set and it’s pretty darn sturdy. I even had it on top of one of my cabinets at work for several months and it withstood the pawing of several ham-fisted adults with really only the landing gear ever coming off with any frequency. It’s currently hanging from the ceiling in my display room by a couple thin wires with no issues. Cobi quality is usually pretty high.
Best I can suggest is trying to rebuild the problem areas on a hard, level surface, pushing the plates together firmly. Failing that, if you just want the model for display and/or swooshing, crazy glue the problem bits together.
