To kind of quote the late, great Fred Gwynne from “My Cousin Vinny”, just what is a “Yootz?” It is the new line of sets from Mega that doesn’t really fit with any existing line, and whose name is so odd that Amazon’s listing has shortened the name from “World of Yootz” to just “World”… I recently added a World of Yootz Fruit Stand set that was just $3.84 to my Amazon cart to get my order over $25, and thought I would give it a quick revi
The set comes in a small box with 3 bags of parts and an instruction manual.
The stand is made from standard Mega Bloks, while the figures are reminiscent of Polly Pocket, featuring tiny arms, multi-part heads, and fused legs that attach to a single stud. The Rod Tidwell memorial dialogue bubble is included at no extra charge.
The set itself is cute enough when assembled, but not really different enough from the existing American Girl line to justify its existence.
The real question, however, is will the Yootz figures work with the more popular figure lines? And the unfortunate answer is, that unless you are looking to give the MC some slightly odd-looking nieces, not really…
While the heads do have the same size neck nub that the larger figures do, swapping the heads really doesn’t work either…on the plus side, however, the super-poseable arms do make it easier to fully deploy the Rod Tidwell memorial dialogue bubble!
But if you want to really deploy the Rod Tidwell memorial dialogue bubble to maximum effect, I highly recommend using the set’s bike to allow the Master Chief to pull off some totally radical BMX stunts! Final verdict: If you can find them on clearance (where I predict they will end up rather quickly), you may want to try a set just for fun…but otherwise they just don’t seem to be very “Yootzful”. (sorry, I couldn’t resist)
